Snickerdoodles
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1-1/4 cup sugar
- 1-3/8 cup flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Cream shortening and sugar together. Add egg and beat. Stir together dry ingrediants. Add to first mix. Roll into one inch ball.
Roll balls in mixture of 1 tablespoon sugar and 1 tablespoon cinnamon. Bake at 400 degrees for 10-12 minutes on an ungreased cookie sheet.
Chocolate Cake
Mix Together:
- 2 cups sugar
- 3 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons cocoa
Add and Mix:
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2 tablespoons vinegar
- 1 cup oil
- 2 cups cold water
Pour into a greased 9x13" cake pan and bake at 350 degrees for 30+ minutes. Cool to frost.
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup margarine or butter
Cook to a rolling boil. (Do not let it boil very long.) Remove from heat. Add 1/2 cup chocolate chips. Beat until ready to spread. (I usually make the frosting while cake bakes so they are cool at the same time!)
